KEEP Reportback
SNS KEEP REPORTBACK
NOVEMBER 22ND. NEXT SATURDAY!
6-8pm
AT THE 2100 BUILDING!!
2100 24th Ave S
This summer two members of Sahngnoksoo participated in a program called the Korea Education and Exposure Program (KEEP). Neither of us had experienced the social justice movement culture in Korea and were excited to have a glimpse at it.
Now that we're back, we want to share the many things we learned. Show you the images of riot police spraying protesters with blue dye in order to identify and arrest them later. Talk about militarism and frame S. Korea as a nation under the thumb of American neoliberalism but also as a nation importing women into militarized prostitution. We want to explore the complex situation in S. Korea and tie it back to the work we're doing locally. We hope that you'll join us to learn more and to continue building strength in our alliances and work together.
----------
The mission of KEEP is to increase awareness of and strengthen the global movement for peace and justice on the Korean peninsula. Through building relationships and communities, KEEP seeks to broaden our understanding of and participation in the liberation struggles and unification of the Korean people.
KEEP 2008 is the 13th annual solidarity program to South Korea. For more information about the program, check out: www.keep.org.

Tasveer Film Fest!
Please support the Independent South Asian Film Fest!
-------------------------
ISAFF opens with three incredibly beautiful and enriching queer films, two being Seattle premieres. Throughout the five days, we have several amazing queer South Asian filmmakers flying in from corners of the world. More than 50% of the festival is dedicated to the expression of and dialog on issues directly related to the personal and political lives of the people on this list.
It is a space dedicated to those of us committed to confronting homophobia and empowering lgbtq people in South Asian communities. This is OUR festival and OUR space.
We are writing this letter to you in case there is anyone on this list who is not aware of the revolutionary nature of this event. We do not want you miss this opportunity to see how it feels to be at the center. The festival is using numerous resources from governmental institutions, foundations, community organizations, businesses, academia, and diverse groups of individuals – all working very hard for the people on this list. The work we've been doing this year has been on many levels, from staying up all night to write grants to creating promotional materials to coming face to face with our own homophobia. This is all for the love and respect and compassion for the people on this list. This festival is dedicated to each and every one of you!
Please join us, whether you like independent film or not. ISAFF has never been about film only. Film is a vehicle, a starting point, to get to social change, to get to a place of awareness, to achieve equity.
The festival is just a blink away. There is no time to wait to spread the word! The theater seats 295. Help us to fill every seat for every lgbtq program in the festival. You can forward our last newsletter or use the Tell A Friend for your favorite programs. This is our chance to spread our wings as wide as we can in this city!
